My Modern Metropolis

The Dining Room of Nobel Laureates, Celebrities, and New England Farmers? Where? Henrietta's Table.

Yesterday morning's breakfast. Sam and I had slept really late, around 1:30a and we had to get up the next day to grab breakfast before heading off to the Berkman Center. Now Sam is not a morning person...I have learned (after 13 hard years) that it is better to let a tired man have his coffee before you begin talking to him.

So we wake up around 7:30a and head out to breakfast at Henrietta's Table by 8a. Henrietta's is located on the 2nd floor of the Charles Hotel right across from Rialto. As you can tell by the first pic the decor is country fabulous - a bit Martha Stewart with a modern twist. They don't skimp on the details here. The front has a little store where you can buy cute little knicknacks....to the left is the bar and outside patio, to the right is where the bacon man hangs out and to the back the restaurant.

Henrietta's Table prides itself on "Fresh from the Farm and Honest to Goodness Home Cooking." Annie - you are going to appreciate this - Chef Davis and his staff are committed to finding the best regional and organically grown produce, not only to support the local farmers and community, but to bring award-winning dishes to their guests. Wonderful!

Here's the menu by the bar area, written in real chalk (none of this fake stuff Starbucks tries to pull on me, Schultz I'm watching you, still):

Three words: Applewood smoked bacon. They were so nice they gave me a strip of bacon, for free! (You know the way to my heart!)

And here's Sam reading the paper, notice I didn't ask him to pose (see full cup of coffee):

Little details...3 types of jam, creamer in a nice container...rounded edge coffee cups...

Sam ordered the three egg omelette with fresh spinach, wild mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, onions, Harrington’s ham, or Patch’s Vermont cheddar cheese. It was huge!

I got two eggs with Applewood smoked bacon. Both dishes came with hashbrowns and bread:

Overall, we had 2 cups of coffee and 2 large dishes and our bill came to $26 + tip. Not a bad deal.

Who Should Go?: People who want to have a nice breakfast in a very quaint restaurant. Though we didn't see any celebs here's what one Yelper said:

Sarah L.
A nice place for brunch with the family. The food is good but not particularly remarkable, and they do have great coffee. I love how sunlit the restaurant is. And yes, you may run into local celebrities. We sat next to Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, and cute little Violet when we were there. (Side note: they're surprisingly attractive in person. You know how some celebrities look completely overdone or underdone in person? Not them. And Jen seemed exactly like the "mommy" she played in Juno.)

Tip: We didn't try lunch or dinner there and the reviews on Yelp are mixed so proceed with caution. (I don't think you can really f-up breakfast.) You have to get the Applewood smoked bacon. Oh man, I'm still thinking about it.
