OMG! the new sonicare flexcare rs930 is AMAZING!!!

ok, i admit it. i'm anal about my dental hygiene.

ok, i also admit that "anal" and "dental hygiene" should never be in a sentence together.

regardless, if there's a new dental care technology, i'm the first to have it. i've bought them all: manual brushes of all shapes, sizes, textures, angles, etc; vibrating electric toothbrushes; rotating electric toothbrushes; and of course, vibrating sonic toothbrushes.

i've been using sonicare sonic toothbrushes since they first came out, and with each iteration, sonicare makes substantial improvements to the previous design.

the first generation was underpowered, had a big screw-on head that tends to accumulate moisture/mold/crud under it, had a weird plastic guard behind the head, the head was too stiff, and it was inconvenient to share one handle because swapping heads was slow and gross.

the second generation (elite), had more power, a flexible head, and got rid of the guard, but still had the big screw-on head that accumulated gross stuff and made swapping difficult.

the third generation (flexcare), JUST arrived at my door, and i'm SUUUUUUPER excited by it. it has all of the pros of the elite generation, but now FINALLY got rid of the screw-on head and the accompanying issues. now the "head" is a much smaller "tip," really, and the base can hold two additional tips. the tips can be swapped out instantly, and more importantly, there's no longer a big ol' cap to slow you down or accumulate pond scum. AWESOME!

on some models, there is even a built-in sanitizer which UV irradiates your tips! there are a bajillion studies out there how most colds are transmitted via your toothbrush, so i won't bother to post one, but imagine how much healthier you'll be!

go. get one. your teefs will thank you!

***UPDATE*** - holy moly!!! i just flipped through the instruction booklet and if you open up the base, inside is a much smaller travel charger!!! i literally stress about running out of battery life on my sonicare when i travel! i even alternate brushings with a manual toothbrush to extend the battery life. i never wanted to carry the old charging base though, because it was too big. what amazing engineering!

retail is $180, but i got mine on ebay for $100!

i think all of sonicare's head bristles are soft, because the unit vibrates/pulses at such high speed. it's definitely gentle on my gums, and helps to prevent gum recession. wayyyyy back when i compared the original sonicare to the braun/oral b, the sonicare was the only one proven to actually IMPROVE gum recession.

oh, and for sonicare newbies, it actually has a ramp-up mode where it starts off slower and more gently for the first 14 brushings while you and your mouth acclimate.

haha. i was seriously staring at the charging lights waiting for it to finish charging so that i could use it last night!
