A Gang of Great Friends + A Korean BBQ Place = The Most Fun Birthday Party for Sam

Instead of making this blog post about a Korean BBQ place, I wanted to say "THANKS EVERYONE!" for coming out in force this weekend for Sam's birthday. I think at last count there were about 28 people who showed up at lunch and then others that came out for poker and a movie afterward. More than anything, Sam and I know that if we're lucky for one thing it is that we have the best family and friends in the world.

So, this post will be all about you!

Let's start with family.

This is Arlene, Danny and Pei. Danny is Sam's older brother. Arlene is Danny's girlfriend. Pei is a friend from UCLA who just got her masters in Architecture from Univ. of Illinois at Chicago. Check out her work - it is amazing.

D-Tram, we met at UCLA, too. Fiona is his friend.

John and Jay. John is Sammy and Danny's cousin and Jay is my best friend. You know how you want your friends to be your family? Yes, we have that!

James and Tara. James is Sam's good friend from Engineering at UCLA and Tara is his girlfriend. Great people.

Here is Sam with Gary Kwon - a fellow M3 driver and Manager at a pharmaceutical company.

This is Misa and her two friends. She's a hoot - makes me laugh like no tomorrow. Loves to swim, like me, we can chat about flip turns forever. (It's all about the flip turn, man!)

Eugene (brother), Annie (John's sister and Sam's cousin) and Varuna and Gary Z (both of whom are doctors)

Better picture of Annie, Eugene and Gary.

Of course, our metropolite stars - Sam with KarKar and RoRo.

Some candid shots at the restaurant.

And finally some pics back at home, playing poker and kickin it with the crew.

Here is DJ Dollar Menu (nice new name!) and DJ Slim some of Sam's closest friends. I swear these guys are like brothers to Sam.

As you may know, I'm drawn to inspirational stories...stories about people who not only overcame obstacles in their lives but who learned from them. All of these friends, through their actions, their words, their accomplishments, show me that with hard work and discipline anything is possible.
