We finally got a chance to go to Lizarran in Downtown Fullerton to eat some tapas. Delicious. The decor made you feel as though you were in Spain. Modern. Light. The server was very friendly and we went at a time when it wasn't busy. (5:30pm on Saturday). The place isn't that big but is perfect for a small group (2-6 people.). They have cold tapas you can get at their bar. They have many different varieties- we tried one with crab, salmon and cream cheese, potato and ham, and one with a stuffed pepper.
Each tapas is the size of a Nokia cell phone. The bread is chewy and doughy. Throughout your time dining, the servers will periodically come around with hot tapas. Each tapas has a toothpick through it. (They are known for these types of tapas-- called pintxos-- the x makes a ch sound.) After eating one, you put the toothpick in a cup and later when you are finished with your meal, they count each toothpick to see how much you owe. Each tapas (toothpick) is $1.75. A great deal for the amount of food you get.
They also have various items on their menu. Everything is reasonably priced. They also have a great selection of drinks... I highly recommend their sangria-- it was one of the best I've had. Just the right amount of sweetness and alcohol and fresh fruit.
