THE WEEKEND EXPERIENCE - ART+CULTURE: Sk8ology

Opening reception 8/23 7pm-10pm @ Koo's Art Center: Long Beach

In the tradition of pairing contrasts in order to create new mediums of expression, ISM: a community project presents, “SK8OLOGY” an exhibition that combines skateboard counter culture with the world of fine art.

On Saturday August 23, 2008 the ISM: gallery will host the opening exhibition, showcasing over 150 creative deck canvases from some of the most poignant and significant active artists and professional skaters. Legendary skaters Craig Stecyk, Nathan Pratt, Steve Caballero and Danny Gonzales are among the contributors, as well as Jason Lee ("My Name is Earl") and Mike Shinoda of Linkin' Park. International recognized artists include names like Audrey Kawasaki, Amy Sol,, Chet Zar, Luke Chueh, Pearl C Hsiung, Sandow Birk, Tessar Lo, and Yoskay Yamamoto.

Contributing artists and professional skaters are donating their creative deck canvases to raise awareness and resources in an effort to support Now That You Know, a non-profit organization that helps to provide ambitious girls from developing countries a secure environment for learning and growth. Proceeds will also contribute to benefiting the youth of our society through the artistic enrichment of our community.
