His art has appeared in cities around the world. Nobody knows his real name, or even his true background, but many know his work and admire his creations.

"Banksy" is a legend in his own right. His street art typically combines graffiti writing with a distinctive stenciling technique and his artworks are often-satirical pieces of art on topics such as politics, culture, and ethics. The message is usually anti-war, anti-capitalist and/or anti-establishment. Subjects include animals such as monkeys and rats, policemen, soldiers, children, and the elderly.

Asked about his technique, Banksy said "I use whatever it takes. Sometimes that just means drawing a mustache on a girl's face on some billboard, sometimes that means sweating for days over an intricate drawing. Efficiency is the key"

Wow, that is amazing. Truly non traditional art. I just wish I could see one of his pieces in person. So cool, so cool.

Thanks for opening my eyes up to this artist. After reading more about him on Wikipedia, he sounds like a guy you'd want to kick it in a bar with (and I don't even drink really so that means something).

Here's a quote from him:
"If you have a statue in the city centre you could go past it every day on your way to school and never even notice it, right. But as soon as someone puts a traffic cone on its head, you've made your own sculpture."
—Banksy, in The Independent

I dig that.
