His art has appeared in cities around the world. Nobody knows his real name, or even his true background, but many know his work and admire his creations.
"Banksy" is a legend in his own right. His street art typically combines graffiti writing with a distinctive stenciling technique and his artworks are often-satirical pieces of art on topics such as politics, culture, and ethics. The message is usually anti-war, anti-capitalist and/or anti-establishment. Subjects include animals such as monkeys and rats, policemen, soldiers, children, and the elderly.
Asked about his technique, Banksy said "I use whatever it takes. Sometimes that just means drawing a mustache on a girl's face on some billboard, sometimes that means sweating for days over an intricate drawing. Efficiency is the key"
