MY MODERN MONDAYS: Top 5 Modern Houses

Hello to you on this Monday! Today I'd like to share my top five modern houses that I would absolutely love to live in. Some are comfortable, some are just cool...but in the end these all lend itself to giving the people who live in them something to experience. #5 One of my favorite things about modern houses is that they are often built with the thought of how people will interact within them. How people actually live and move - how they entertain and how they relax. You can just imagine having 10 of your closest friends over, cooking up a storm and then enjoying the night under the stars.

By Kochi Architects Studio of Japan #4 What better way to enjoy your beach house than have it open on both sides? This New Zealand house is absolutely stunning.

By Modern House Notes #3 1234 Howard St. San Francisco. A 17-unit residential structure designed by Stanley Saitowitz | Natoma Architects, this doesn't have that cold feeling you'd expect from an aluminum building.

#2 Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater - Of course, I had to add one of these in. I'm not a huge nature buff myself (much to my husband's chagrin) but I just love how this house, at the same time, stands out and blends into its surroundings.

#1 Well, I already posted on this once so I won't belabor the point, but I just love Clive Wilkinson's house. Playful and fun, open and airy, you can just imagine having your friends over all the time.

  • I visited FLW's FallingWater and it is amazing! The crazy thing is that when you're there, you can't imagine that it is built at the turn of the century. The same could be said for his home in Chicago. It's so modern that it still relates to today's time.
  • Love #4! I'd never leave home.
