The
Greenwich Hotel, Robert DeNiro's latest labor of love, opened to much fanfare in April 2008. Located in the heart of Tribeca in New York City, the "country house chic" hotel has 75 rooms and 13 suites
of which no two are identical.
A beautiful
Drawing Room (with twelve-foot ceilings and a stone fireplace) offers guests and friends a cozy nook to lounge in. Its French doors lead to a lush Tuscan-style courtyard where guests can dine beneath the latticed vines.
The
Shibui Spa features a lantern-lit swimming pool and a lounge area. Private yoga classes are available daily.
The hotel also houses an outpost of
Ago, Robert DeNiro's famed restaurant and bar, naturally. The restaurant provides in-room dining to hotel guests 24 hours a day.
Now the rooms --
Most floors are covered in gorgeous dark hardwood. Doors and ceiling beams are reclaimed wood. And each room houses bookshelves stacked with books. Prices are steep for the non movie star: Rates begin at $525. Suites start at $1,850.
But the service!
* Wi-Fi Internet? Free
* Coffee delivered to your room in the morning moments after your requested wake-up call? Free
* Everything in the mini-bar except alcohol is complementary
Da Penthouse --
Not sure if this has been built. Robert DeNiro got into major trouble for the design of the penthouse and, in particular, its roof, being larger and steeper than approved and had to
appear before the Landmarks Preservation Commission to get yelled at. Aw the Godfather himself had to get on his knees and beg the city to spare his dream Penthouse!
* 2500 sq ft. plus 1700 sq ft roof garden with a private hot tub and views of the city and Hudson River (wow)
* 2 master bedrooms, a full kitchen, a skylit dining room, and a media complex
