Daring (and damn expensive) mobile installation commemorating the 50th year of the Chanel handbag. Designed by Karl Lagerfeld's head fghg since 2006, Zaha Hadid, who is known for "highly futuristic designs, some of them so complex in conception that they are impossible to build" - say what? My designs are totally the same way.

OK fine she did design the
BMW Central Building in Leipzig, Germany, which totally looks awesome, and cold.

Anyways, the touring art exhibit / structure, a quintessential Zaha Hadid piece, is to pay homage to Chanel’s signature quilted bag, which I don't really see in the design. (I think she just dropped a giant Chanel bag into like, her student project, but shhh no one tells Karl!) I do think it is inspired by all the profit the Chanel quilted bag has generated in the last 50 years.

The 5,920-square-foot "nomadic gallery" launched in Hong Kong, is currently in Tokyo, and will be assembled in September, in Manhattan, at an "undisclosed location". Perhaps someone should tell them that Manhattan doesn't have the room for it? Perhaps I'm just bitter they've skipped L.A.? After that, London, Moscow, and Paris.
