For many people, yearbooks are precious keepsakes that help preserve the memories of old friends and classmates long after graduation. Thanks to advanced 3D printing technology, the agency 3D TEK was able to surprise eight blind students in South Korea with Touchable Yearbooks, lifelike busts that give the students the opportunity to finally “see” the faces of their friends.
As shown in the video below, the graduating class of the Seoul National School for the Blind received finely detailed 3D-printed busts of themselves and their classmates, accompanied by Braille name tags like in a conventional yearbook. Excited and filled with wonder, the students carefully run their hands over the busts and their own facial features, laughing joyfully when they learn how accurate the Touchable Yearbooks are. By feeling the faces of each other and their 3D-printed likenesses, these students will now be able to hold onto the memories of their friends forever in a wonderfully tangible way.
