Wildlife Photography Contest Honors the Resilience of Nature

Every year, the German Society for Nature Photography (GDT) runs the Rewilding Europe Awards to spotlight stories of recovery and co-existence between species. These moving photos, often reminders of the damage humans have done, often offer a glimmer of hope for Earthโ€™s future. This year, Spainโ€™s Jon A. Juรกrez won the award for his fascinating photo of scientists attempting to revive Atlantic sturgeon across Europe.

Bird Soaring Below a Total Solar Eclipse Wins 2025 Bird Photographer of the Year

The worldโ€™s largest bird photography competition has announced its results, which were selected from the more than 25,000 photographs entered into the contest. In the end, Canadian photographer Liron Gertsman adds another award to his impressive resume, as he was named 2025 Bird Photographer of the Year for his image of a magnificent frigatebird soaring in front of a total solar eclipse.

Colorful โ€œLadybugs of the Seaโ€ Win 2025 Ocean Photographer of the Year Contest

A colorful macro photo of two tiny โ€œladybugs of the seaโ€ won Bali-based photographer Yury Ivanov the title of Ocean Photographer of the Year 2025. The contest, organized by Oceanographic Magazine and Blancpain, is always a delightful way to view different perspectives on the sea, and Ivanovโ€™s win exemplifies how much there is to see. The image, which was taken at a dive site in Bali, won out over 15,000 other entries.
