Awesome Calvin and Hobbes Mural Painted for a Nursery

Redditor alltherobots gave a lucky kid one of the coolest gifts ever. At the request of his friends, the professional artist painted this awesome Calvin and Hobbes wall mural for their baby's nursery. The classic image of the adventurous duo lounging on a tree branch is playfully recreated using latex paint to mimic the typical watercolors used in comic strip creator Bill Watterson's original image.

Using just a few standard supplies like flat brushes (typically used to work with latex paint) and frog tape to protect the trim and wall fixtures, the artist proceeded to paint his life-size picture of the resting pair. The artist took a methodical approach and documented his progress as he applied the paint in steps based on color. Starting with yellows and oranges and moving on to blues, browns, and additional colors, the painter completed the mural by lining his work and filling in Hobbes' stripes in black. Check out the progress, below.
