Food stylist Anna Keville Joyce and photographer Agustín Nieto make a great team when it comes to creative food photography. Known for their delicately intricate food stylings, including A Tribute to Budgie, the pair recently worked together to develop this series of landscape food art that depicts four different capital cities throughout Eastern Europe: Prague, Budapest, Bucharest, and Warsaw.

Illustrating Eastern Europe was commissioned by blogger Derya Ozyuvali, aka FoodieBackpacker, to promote some of his cooking workshops as he travels around the world. Joyce used fresh ingredients like dry rice and pasta, kernels of corn, raw sugar, eggs, fruits, and all kinds of veggies to create the delicately layered arrangements.

When speaking about the project, Joyce said, “Each piece has different challenges. For example, transmit the feeling of fog amidst the light of Prague; give the sensation of water in the Danube river in Budapest; show the colors and designs of Bucharest; and create the idea of height and sky in Warsaw.”
