While we're use to seeing paintings that look like pictures (photo-realism), it's not often we come across photos that look like paintings. Toronto-based, self-taught photographer Barabara Cole (who we first wrote about here) is a master at achieving this effect. Her Chromatics series tests the nature of photography and its impact on our experiences of reality by making her underwater figures look abstract or amorphous. (Yes, that's an actual person lurking under the water.)
