Bowl-Shaped Roof Embraces Rainfall To Win 2026 Hotel Design Competition

Melbourne-based architect Steven Chu was awarded the Grand Prize in the 2026 NOT A HOTEL International Design Competition this past spring. The founder of Artefact Architects submitted a design proposal titled Sound of Rain, which was selected from over 1,000 entries from 112 countries worldwide. The project is set to be built by the boutique hotel brand on Yakushima, a forested island off the southern coast of Kyushu, Japan.

Music Hall Emerges From Croatia’s Fields Draped in Limestone Curtains

The architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) is bringing a cultural destination to eastern Croatia. Currently under construction in Čepin, EVE Music Hall will open in early 2027 as BIG’s first completed project in Croatia and the firm’s first finished music venue. Developed in partnership with Marko Pipunić, the 10,000-square-meter complex will serve as a hub for concerts, conferences, exhibitions, festivals, and public gatherings in the heart of the Slavonian countryside.
