What a wonderful gift! To celebrate Tel Aviv’s 100th anniversary, the city of Brussels, Belgium, sent 500,000 dahlias to Tel-Aviv so that they could arrange a temporary flower carpet. In addition, a Belgian team of experts were flown in with the flowers to oversee the 100 volunteers who helped assemble it! Designed by Israeli artist Adi Yekutieli, the installation took inspiration from tiles and murals discovered in the homes of several of Tel Aviv’s founding families.

Covering slightly more than a third of an acre, the dahlias were grown especially for the Tel Aviv celebration. It is scheduled to remain on display through the night of September 17.
