Twinkling LED Lights Make Budapest Tram Look Like it’s Traveling Through Time

If you ever find yourself in Budapest, Hungary for the winter holidays, don't miss the wonderfully festive Christmas trams, local streetcars decorated with over 30,000 twinkling LED lights. People of all ages and nationalities marvel at the special trolleys each winter, mesmerized by the sight of thousands of blue-and-white lights glittering like stars in the evening or the glow of a futuristic vehicle jetting through time, while passengers also get to enjoy seeing the whole city lit up with Christmas cheer as they travel through the streets.

Started in 2009 by the Budapest Transport Company, the festive tradition is a delight for locals, citizens, and children. Best of all, anyone with a regular ticket or public transport travel pass can ride the Christmas trams, making them a fun and budget-friendly way to get around Budapest while enjoying some holiday spirit.

For more information on the routes and tram schedule, check out the Budapest Transport Company's website as we get closer to the holiday season in December.
