White Plastic Forks Form Bony Fish Skeleton

These days, it's not unusual to see artwork that reuses and recycles common objects, from basic office supplies to plastic garbage bags. In this piece entitled Fish and Pale, Colombian artist Carols Bonil focuses his attention on ordinary utensils, creating the massive form of a fish skeleton using just white plastic forks. The incredible structure and detail that he achieves with such a simple and every day object is phenomenal!

Bonil's artistic practice is based on the discovery of new functions hidden within everyday objects as well as discarded technological waste. Through a deconstruction and repurposing of the plastic forks, Bonil bends and twists the shapes to reflect the bony structure of a living creature. He says, "While the object is constructed, some other concepts are added to it, overlapping layers of ideas to create a whole new device."
