When it comes to celebrity portraiture, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what makes certain ones stand out from the rest. Up close and personal photos provide a deeper look into a side of celebrities we don’t often get to see, and when a photographer can reveal something new or different, it can change your whole perception of them.
Damon Winter is a New York-based staff photographer for the New York Times who's a master at taking us beyond the superficial...he knows how to create a mood. (If his work looks familiar, you may remember him from Alice's post back in Auguest 2009.)
Winters specializes in several types of photography including documentary, editorial and portrait. His photos of A-List celebrities are beautifully simple yet, at the same time, incredibly striking.
