Gorgeous Watercolors Merge Nature with Chinese Calligraphy

For more than 30 years, artist Chuan-Hong Li has found countless ways to convey the beautiful elegance of the Chinese culture through paint. His vibrant watercolors are filled with a touch of nature, often plum blossoms, lotus, and peonies, that are accompanied by beautiful calligraphy lettering. Drawing on the traditions and heritage of the past, Li's work also features a touch of contemporary style.

He uses quick brushstrokes to create the dark branches and bright buds that sweep naturally across the canvas, as well as the multiple styles of script that he has learned throughout the years. The refreshing compositions have playful titles like Dancing in Spring and Endless Vitality, which symbolize the blossoming life that radiates from each canvas. According to his bio, “His paintings display profound, powerful, active, and enthusiastic images,” which are both energetic but soothing at the same time and provide viewers with a wonderfully peaceful and meditative display of nature.
