Sauna with Exquisite Curves Has an Amazing View of Lake Huron

The Grotto project by the Partisans Design Group revitalizes the traditional sauna design with beautiful organic curves. The Canadian firm set out to move the sauna away from its usual rigid geometry towards something more natural that better suits the warm, soothing atmosphere of the space. Providing a serene view to match the room's relaxing air, the 800-square-foot edifice is nestled on a rocky shore looking out onto Lake Huron.

Each tile segment of the sauna's space is built from a three-dimensional model using local moisture-resistant cedar wood. The skylight set into the room's ceiling bathes the interior in warm, natural light. Designed to keep with mid-century style of the owner's home, the exterior is also engineered to unassumingly blend with the rock formation it sits on through natural weathering.
