Designed by Japanese artist Tatsuo Miyajima, "Diamond in You" relates to the concept of "kongochi," the highest enlightenment in Buddhism. The word "kongo" means diamond, the element that "shatters hesitation and brings glorious wisdom." Buddhism says that kongo is not something that is acquired, but every human innately has it.Miyajima's works are comprised of LED-counters, slowly ticking and counting from 1 to 9 or 9 to 1. The constant scoring symbolizes infinite time, but the number 0 is always excluded. Miyajima relates to its stagnation and death."Diamond In You" signifies this inner diamond through LED technology and unfolding mirrors of stainless steel. The Buddhist symbol of a half-sphere represents the personal universe of each being. If one were to go a step further and unfold the whole entire sculpture, they would discover that every section consists precisely of this form, therefore symbolizing the entire universe.
