Digital Art: Realistic Characters by Artist Stephen Molyneaux

Pictured above is Stephen Molyneaux's creation titled Bernadette. Stephen is a 23 year old British 3D animator artist who uses 3ds max, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush to create ultra realistic characters. The amazing thing is the level of detail in his artwork. Here are a few more of his creations. oldmanonsubway 2005

  • Yeah, I know what you mean Will. At first I was intrigued by his artwork, then a little freaked out. Too realistic!
  • the only one that looks totally real is the first one. The rest are still crazy awesome though.
  • I read this article a little while back which talked about the human revulsion to things as they become more human-like. Yes, it was a geeky article about robots. Anyway, when you take, for instance, a bear and you make it look more human, humans have a positive reaction to it and think it's cute. BUT, there's a certain plateau where if it becomes too human-like, we experience a revulsion to it... like computer graphics, sex dolls, and ultra-realistic robotic ninja assassins.

@Eugene: the guy with the screws is supposed to be Peter Weller, playing Alex J. Murphy aka Robocop. I'd buy that for a dollar.
  • Don't believe your eyes! (Bangkok Axiom #1)
