My Modern Metropolis

It's a story we read about all the time. What started off as a mere hobby soon turned into a full time career. So it was for Catherine Pluchart who decided, just recently, that she could make that huge leap. Not that she didn't have clues along the way. It's almost as if the universe was trying to tell her something...

"At 21, I passed the entrance examination of the ‘Ecole Nationale Supérieure’ of Visual Arts in Camber, Brussels," she says. "Upon return to France, I began my working life as a PA in the family business. In my free time, I photographed the world in which I bathed since I was born: the countryside, animals and machinery.

"I met, a few years later, a chef with whom I created and ran a gourmet restaurant for five years. During this period, the photography was put aside, but it is probable that the aesthetics of the dishes and the marriage of ingredients influenced my future compositions.

"The pleasure of photography resurfaced thanks to an air meeting, at which the pilot made me realize my particular attraction for portrait photography.

During a stay in French Polynesia, I went back to photographing nature.

"I left the north of France to live in Toulouse, with my brand new material in hand. A particularly encounter with a composer revealed to me once and for all that the passion I have for the artistic world is something to which I need to entirely devote myself."
