Just how does a phone company show off its latest gadgetry? Well, if you're Nokia, you team up with Aardman Animations and create the smallest stop-motion animation character in a film. It stars a 9mm girl named Dot as she battles her way through a microscopic world.
Shot entirely on the new Nokia N8, the film shows us just what you can do when you combine the smartphone's 12-megapixel photography capabilities with the CellScope, microscopic device that attaches to the handset.
Originally developed to turn the camera of a cellphone into a clinical-quality light microscope, the CellScope is now also being used for this type of microsopic animation. Is this just the beginning of a new trend? I think so.
In any case, it's a fitting and creative way to bring Nokia's tagline, "It's not technology, it's what you do with it" to life.
