Our hearts go out to the people in Japan and all those affected by the 8.9-magnitude earthquake. It's the biggest earthquake on record to hit Japan and according to CNN it "unleashed walls of water Friday that swept across rice fields, engulfed towns, dragged houses onto highways and tossed cars and boats like toys, apparently killing hundreds and forcing the evacuations of tens of thousands."

Alan Taylor of In Focus has been compiling some incredibly harrowing photos of the scene as it unfolds. His set has 33 photos so far with more to come. See it here.

This is such a tragedy. My prayers are with those in Japan and those who have family there.
