Mexico Successfully Reintroduces the American Bison Following a 100-Year Absence

Bisons are most often associated with the American West; particularly, with the sprawling landscapes of Yellowstone National Park. But these majestic creatures were once also a common sight in northern Mexico. This was before they were hunted and their habitats were destroyed between the 19th and early 20th centuries, leading to disappearance from the wild. Luckily, a comprehensive effort has brought these animals back to the region after over a 100-year absence.

One of the World’s Most Elusive Wild Cats Is Caught on Camera in Iran

The elusive Pallas’s cat is native to the mountainous regions of Central Asia, but it’s incredibly rare to catch a glimpse of one. The small feline species with rounded ears and a grumpy face is named after Peter Simon Pallas, the Prussian naturalist who first described it in 1776. However, it wasn’t until 2012 that the Pallas’s cat was finally photographed, and we still don’t know very much about it.
