Energetic Ink Paintings

Let's ring in the new year with a splash! Amsterdam-based artist Nik Christensen uses paint brushes and his hands to create these monochromatic ink paintings filled with energy. Finding inspiration from all forms of art, from film to literature, Christensen seeks to represent a scene that is both rich with backstory and promises of future happenings. His creations are merely a heightened moment in time.

The kaleidoscopic imagery utilizes geometric shapes and abstract forms and even allows them to coexist with realistic figures. Christensen's remarkable recent series entitled The Lower Depths feature a multitude of thought-provoking visuals, as is common of his paintings. The artist's earlier works, which are equally note-worthy, can be viewed on his website.
