The Beauty of Bursting Iridescent Soap Bubbles

After checking out his colorful mosaics, his dancing salts, and his glowing lamp lights, we realized that we just can't get enough of Fabian Oefner's amazing work! So here is yet another inspiring project, entitled Bursting Soap Bubbles, by the photographer who is fascinated with scientific phenomena. In this series, Oefner magically captures soap bubble details that are generally difficult to see with the naked eye.

In order to create the patterns of visible color on the otherwise transparent objects, Oefner places lights and reflectors around the area from all sides. He then focuses in on individual, iridescent bubbles to document the moments of disintegration. After hundreds of shots and lots of patience, Oefner's series features the incredible process of soap film dissolving, a bubble popping, and a tiny cloud of water drops spraying into the air.
