My favorite artist is a friend I grew up with, Joe Martin, www.moemario.com I guess I'm biased to the people I know.
He's always had a unique view of every day objects and the world around us, managing to find inspiration for the unlikeliest of locations, and his photography is just another example of this.

I feel that the artist that got me into photography in the first place, or at least helped to peak my interest is Trey Ratcliff, www.stuckincustomers.com

I love this guys works, I'm biased towards photography and I am still amazed by just how much information you can cram into a single picture with HDR, and Trey does an amazing job at showing us fantastic locations in a more vivid than life way that can't help but get your attention. Not only this but instead of simply showing off his work, the tutorials and workshops are some of the best on the web, definitely worth checking out!

Thirdly, I started really thinking about what an artist is, what it means, and I think a quote from the film "V for Vendetta" put's it well, artists use lies to tell the truth, they have meaning in their work and use imagery to promote an idea, and in this case, my favorite artist of the visual world is likely to be Banksy, simple pieces that can really get you thinking.

Favorite Artist - mother nature and all the wonders we can see everyday if we just take the time to look at a leaf, a flower, a bird or simply your own eyes that looked up close are a world of their one.
In second place would be all the people amateurs or professionals, who try and express themselves threw art, what ever the art just to try and give to others with their words, paintings, pictures, voice their feelings and ideas about their world or our world or the World.
So no favorite artist but a lot of favorite Artists !
What all this means to me, we are small little human beans surrounded by more beauty than we can see in a life time even in our back garden, from the smallest life forms to the stars. Nature shows us shapes, colors, sounds, textures and all worlds we couldn't even imagine in our wildest dreams. Threw all the artists of the world we try and convey this beauty to others, to show to the ones who don't look all that their is out their and all that we have in us: emotions, anger, fear, love... that adds with all the rest as a all.
I think that the more art their is in the world maybe the better we will understand ourselves and understand it, by copying it, studying it, immersing ourselves in the World around us and in the humanity we live in. Until, I hope one day we can all look around us and see us as a part of the great wonders of nature.

Van Gogh is my favorite! Nothing compares to seeing a Van Gogh painting in person and his paintings are rich in so many ways. His paintings grab every silver of color seen by the natural eye and layers them into the painting, the result is your eye goes into sensory overload and the painting seems to waver and come to life. He paints the simplest of scenes but he rejects the conventions of his time period and that just makes him an overall badass. Everything from his perspective, to his painting technique, color theory, and play on light are his tools to create the mood and inspire emotion from you. His paintings are like poetry on canvas. Sometimes when you read something it automatically stirs feelings within and you know exactly what the author is trying to say. I think that is what inspires me the most about his work is the ability to convey deep human emotion and have it live on in his creations for many people to experience over and over.

Yaaaaay, finally art! =)
I don't want to sound trite, but my favourite artist of all times is Alfons Mucha. His style is so recognizable through all of the world, even these days hundreds of artist try to imitate it. If you browse through internet you can find thousands of stylizations. And look, one of them is among giveaways =) Audrey Kawasaki print in art-nouveau =)
Always colourful, full of life, always so stylish even from modern point of view. His pictures taught us waht is beauty itself.
To my opinion, that's Alfons Mucha (along with his tallanted followers) predetermined the way of development of modern art. Thank's to him nowadays we have the chance to enjoy works of talanted illustrators whose art would never be what it is if Alfons Mucha never shared his vision with the world.
Goodbye, scrupulous copying of reality. Hello, fantasy, vision, creativity!

I think my favorite artist is The Nature...she is the best teacher and her mastery is amazing, and the Nature teach all artists how to be artists.
Every season of the year makes me to analysis everything what i see: in Autumn trees lose their leaves, everything looks like in orange color-filter. In Winter everything becomes black and white - white snow and black trees, i think winter is the most magical season of the year. In Spring everything takes their colour back, a resurrection, it's magical too, watching how the nature resurrected herself. And Summer, sun, green trees, happy kids because they now on summer vocations..BUT! Somewhere Summer is green and warm and somewhere Summer is cold and dark and i think it's SO amazed me!
I hope you understand abut my analysis, a analysis not only these clear things, because details made a things. The angle of light in sumer and in winter, a wind...in winter there is ornaments of the windows and i try to analysis them too.
And animals., bugs, birds..aren't' they is a artwork? of course they is!
So...i hope you understand why i think the Nature is the best artist.

I love David Hockney. I can't quite put my finger on why I love his work so much, perhaps because it is rather surreal yet relatable? The colors draw you in and then the details makes you stay and gaze. My favorite piece would have to be Pool.

I personally like Mark Huckabee's answer! Each person should be their own favorite artist.

They're all my favorites.Any of us who can stand the pressures by either drawing , painting, sculpting, dancing, streetarting in a smooth way.Something I'm not sure I could anymore, I'd rather jog, swim, jump outside, take a snap if inside!

My favorite artist is .......................................................... me.
And your favorite artist should be................................. you.

Why?

Because each of us is an artist in our own way. Each of us curates a collection of of our life. This collection is our art. This collection tells others who we are. It speaks for us. It moves others.

Art isn't just something we find on a wall somewhere. Leonardo taught us that engineering and medicine could be art.

Anonymous builders taught us that a window can be art.

Science has taught us that art can be found in the very large

and the very small

Banksy taught us that art can be anywhere, even on a wall meant to divide us.

and Alice taught us that art can be a website.

If you walk into my house you will see art hung on the walls, photos on a table, and objects scattered about that represent different parts of my life. It might be a cool rock I found while caving in Mexico or a photo of my sons rafting the Grand Canyon. It might be a collection of mission patches from my time working on the Space Shuttle. It might be a stack of books on a table waiting for me to read them. Or even a platter of food I've made to welcome you. But whatever it is, it is me. It tells you something about who I am. It is a reflection of what is inside me and it creates a small bond between us. That is what art is all about. Be the artist of your life. Be your own favorite artist.
