30,000 Trees Planted by Volunteers in Major Effort To Restore Isle of Man Ecosystem

Volunteers at the Manx Wildlife Trust exceeded all expectations in an incredibly ambitious project aimed at restoring an ecosystem on the Isle of Man. The massive undertaking was slated as a five-year-long project, but the team of volunteers were able to achieve their goal in just three years. By planting 30,000 mixed-native trees over 105 acres, they have made a large and productive step in an even larger overall project.

Concrete Cars Submerged in the Ocean Aim To Revitalize Florida’s Coral Population

Off the coast of Miami Beach, something unexpected has plunged into the ocean: a series of concrete cars. Created by conceptual artist Leandro Erlich, this aquatic traffic jam was unveiled earlier this month during Miami Art Week, and inaugurates the ReefLine, a new, 7-mile underwater sculpture park that merges ocean advocacy, site-specific art, and ecological restoration. Aptly titled Concrete Coral, the installation consists of 22 life-size cars, each cast from marine-grade, pH-neutral concrete.

12,000 Acres of Forests and Wetlands Join Protected Nature Reserve in Minnesota

Minnesota is known for its enchanting forests, grasslands, and lakes, making up some of the most formidable landscapes in the U.S. Hoping to safeguard these biomes, The Natural Conservancy (TNC) has made its largest land acquisition in Minnesota since the year 2000. Now, a whopping 12,271 acres of natural habitats in Northern Minnesota have become protected land.
