Adorable 82-Foot-Tall Rabbit Covers an Old Aircraft Hangar in Taiwan

Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman has been busy creating some of his signature large-scale installations throughout the world. We recently featured Hofman's giant hippopotamus sculpture floating along the Thames river–on view through September 28, 2014–and now he's back with his giant installation, entitled Moon Rabbit, which is currently laying on an old aircraft hangar in Taoyuan, Taiwan at the Dayuan Town Naval Base.

The giant white fluffy rabbit was created for the annual arts and culture event, Taoyuan Land Art Festival. The large stuffed animal, laying on its back and looking up towards the sky, spans roughly 82.5 feet and is constructed out of wood, styrofoam, and sheets of paper.

Hofman said the piece was inspired by a Chinese cultural myth that mentions a rabbit making elixir on the moon. “The moon rabbit is laying against the bunker, dreaming and thinking about life and dreaming the impossible possible and creating it's own true stories,” explains Hofman.
