My Modern Metropolis

Giveaway #3: Two Creepy Cool Books

[Re-featuring] Hello, my friends! As promised, today we'll be giving away two prizes. The first book is called Creepy Cute Crochet and the other is Dawn of the Dreadfuls.

If you love Etsy and all of their handmade goods, you're going to love Creepy Cute Crochet. Inside you'll find everything you'll need to crochet your very own horde of creatures! Just follow their easy instructions and you'll be scaring your friends in no time. My favorite little guy? Why the mini zombie, of course!

If you're more of a classic books fan, Dawn of the Dreadfuls is for you. As a prequel, this story is set four years before the horrific events found in the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Set in the world of Jane Austen's novel, this book is a great mashup of old and new. Expect corpses springing from earth and marauding zombies!

Both seem ghoulishly great, don't they? Well, they're both going to one lucky winner!

So how are you going to win these?

Tell us a true scary story that happened to you.

Best story wins. Contest ends Thursday at midnight.

Good luck!

I've been listening to scary stories today, from my sister, colleagues, and fellow metropolites. Giving me the creeps, especially Mia's. Anyway, I think I'll come forward with this silly tale that happened to me when I was just a child.

It was the first time that I was all alone at home. Everyone went out, and being the 'couch potato' I was, I rather stayed home and watch tv then go outside to play. It was really dark, and was about 8-9pm. Suddenly there was a blackout, and I panicked. But I kept my cool, and tried to find the light switch, when I heard this loud wailing from outside. It was so loud, and it sounded like a baby crying.
I was at first afraid, but later concerned, and having read many books, and watched movies, my imagination ran wild. Was that a BABY crying???? It came from outside so I looked out to see if there was anything fishy. But it was too dark, and I couldn't make out anything. 'Convinced' there was something crying outside, I ran downstairs, and out the door in search for this 'crying baby'. But I found nothing! Just some overgrown grass and crickets creaking. The wailing stopped, and I hear bushes rustling, and my heart nearly jumped. The next thing I know, the wailing was much louder, and I called out to whatever was crying. But the wails continued. I ran back into my house, obviously afraid, and prayed for the wails to go away. Fortunately my folks came back, and they switched the light switch back on. I never knew what was that crying until a few years later, when I was much older, to realize that the wails, were actually from.......
A stupid cat. LoL! Some cats croak as if they're crying, and I mistakened it to be a baby that night. Silly me!

@everyone- it's true :( it happened years ago when I was 15. I've had other similar things happen like that before- the choking or seeing ghosts but none were as scary as that day. When I watched the movie the exorcism of Emily Rose, I got freaked out by one scene because it reminded me of it. Some people say I'm sensitive to ghosts, others that I'm hallucinating, dreaming or have night terrors/narcolepsy. I was actually quite freaked out writing the experience down and reliving it that I slept with the light on last night =$

But I am happy to report...I haven't had any freaky things happen to me in a long time now (touch wood).

@IanJ- damn, I can't even get by a day let alone a week. My hats off to you :)

I'm loving this thread too! @IanJ - Oh my gosh! How'd you do that?! *screeeaaaams*
I don't have a scary story that's personal, so I don't think I'm eligible to participate, but I would love to write down some stories I've heard from other people, just to be in the moment.

@Mia, that is a freaking freaky scary story!!!!!! Also gave me the chills.
@IanJ, the lack of internet for a week is downright frightful. I'm glad you made it through that horrifying experience.

Alright, I've got the scariest story of all time. If you're of a weak constitution you may want to stop reading now. Alright I warned you... I once spent a whole week with out the INTERNET!!! : O

On a slightly more serious note, I used to explore abandoned buildings for fun but unfortunately all the Ghosties were camera shy : ( Both books look interesting though and I'm sure anyone who wins them will enjoy them. I guess my army of crocheted zombie ninja robots will have to wait though.

Mia, if that's story is true, it literally gave me the chills!
