What an interesting design! Istanbul, Turkey, has recently been promoting their competition for architects from around the world to submit their proposals for their new Disaster Prevention and Education Center. Some of you may remember Portugese architecture firm OODA's cross-shaped proposal. Here is another creative one from Norwegian firm Superunion architects.

Superunion's building would be found in an area between the city and the airport. The architects found the empty ground level to be rather lacking in community, as this area doesn't have any important cultural or historical significance. That's why Superunion architects decided to propose a very unique building that borderlines art. It will be elevated into the air by a few individual structures, the most striking of which is a large golden male statue which represents how mankind must support science.

This plays into the main structure of the building, the long black rectangle, that supposedly represents the protection of knowledge and the future of preventing natural disasters. Underneath the building will be a common park with fountains, bringing in a touch of nature while the building provides shade.

Which of the two proposal has your vote so far?

This one gets my vote.

Their concept for an underwhelming space is visionary. From an aerial position it must look simple and curious, but then the underneath is where the story's told.
