Do you ever wish you could just get away on a personal rocket ship? These people do. Italian photographer Graziano Panfili captures everyday people in astronaut suits who seem like they have either just landed or are ready to depart from assorted locations that range from the mundane, dimly lit bedroom to the exotic, snowy expanse of land. This series, titled Alienation, touches on the idea of people wanting to lead vastly different lives and features portraits of those that are ready to take that giant leap.
The photographer points out that many people lead dual lives—one is their full-time job and the other their unfulfilled dreams they often practice as hobbies. In an interview with Click, an Italian blog, Panfili sites bartenders who write stories and non-musician employees who are excellent guitar players. If given the option to choose between their nine-to-five jobs they're stuck at to make a living and the opportunity to do what they love, the people in this series have already made their decision to switch things up and take a chance on living their dream. As such, the photographer has transformed ordinary hardworking people into astronauts, embarking on the next chapter of their lives.
