Single Dad Went to Beauty School so He Could Learn How to Style His Daughter’s Hair

Colorado dad Greg Wickherst has done a great job taking care of his daughter Izzy since he and Izzy's mother split up over a year ago, but he had no idea what to do when it came to styling the almost-3-year-old's hair. When Izzy's hair grew longer and Wickherst couldn't even do a simple ponytail, he turned to beauty school for help. Luckily, the IntelliTec College, where he works as an admissions representative, has a cosmetology department filled with students willing to teach him. In no time at all, Wickherst learned how to do ponytails, buns, and even difficult braids.

Now, the devoted father is a hair whiz who is known as the “hair dad” on Facebook, where he posts photos of the latest styles he tries on Izzy's golden locks. Other parents often send him new ideas and tutorials, and Wickherst even shares tips and suggestions on how to attain the perfect ‘do.

But above all, Wickherst is thankful for the precious moments he can share with his daughter. According to the hair dad, his best advice for other single fathers out there is to savor the time they have left with their children. “My favorite part of the day is when I wake her up and get her out of bed and she's still sleepy, so she nuzzles her face into my neck,” he told BuzzFeed. “That love right there, feeling that love and that trust is the most rewarding part.”
