Artist Paints Incredibly Tiny Landscapes on the Surfaces of Food

Turkish artist Hasan Kale creates incredibly tiny works of art using just his steady hand and a finely tipped paint brush. He enjoys using unusual canvases like butterfly wings and snail shells and, more recently, he has turned much of his attention towards unexpected food surfaces.

From peanut shells to bits of chocolate, each miniature masterpiece features insane details of the artist's Istanbul home. Paint layer by paint layer, the landscapes and magnificent architecture come alive in great detail. You can watch the video below to learn more about the artist and to see his painting in action.

“These are objects from daily life that people hardly ever think about, we don't pay much attention to them,” explains Kale. “Through my art, I want to stress how nice these things can be. I deliberately choose difficult objects, though how small they are or how well they absorb paint is not important. What is important is that they come to life and bring joy to people.”
