Artist Statement

By fusing classical imagery with passions and vicissitudes of the contemporary world, I create images that are technically sound yet riddled with both overt and subtle humor. These paintings are intended to illuminate the futility of guilt and frustration we encounter in the struggle for identity and meaning by arousing laughter, indignation, curiosity, and finally recognition.

Cherubauchery Series

Cherub + Debauchery; Excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures by celestial beings, often represented as a beautiful rosy-cheeked child with wings; intemperance.

Megalomarmot

A mania for great or grandiose performance subjected upon stout-bodied short-legged chiefly herbivorous burrowing rodents of the squirrel family that have coarse fur, a short bushy tail, and very small ears and that hibernate during the winter.
