Improv Everywhere's No Pants Subway Ride 2013

If you are one of those people who believe that pants are overrated, you will definitely want to participate in this annual event! The No Pants Subway Ride, which has taken place every January since 2002, is organized by Improv Everywhere. During the designated day, men and women around the world strip off their britches, shake their derrieres, and venture off on their morning commutes without blinking an eye. The goal is to appear as casual as possible and to ignore the fact that their behinds are exposed while they ride the subway. Unsuspecting passengers—unaware of the coordinated shenanigans—stare in wonder as they are surrounded by a pants-less slew of riders.

According to the website, "The mission started as a small prank with seven guys and has grown into an international celebration of silliness, with dozens of cities around the world participating each year." For the original prank, seven friends, all male, got onto the same subway train at seven consecutive stops. They were all bundled up for the cold weather—minus their pants—and pretended not to know each other. When approached, they simply replied, "I forgot my pants."

The annual escapade took place this year on Sunday, January 13, 2013, where tens of thousands of people in 60 cities around 25 countries around the world participated in the chaos. Specifically in New York, more than 4,000 participants met at six different locations and traveled across six subway lines. For a great laugh, check out the video below of the 2013 No Pants event as well as a second video featuring a single passenger's reaction to the very first No Pants Subway Ride.
