From the architect who showed us the
beautiful, undulating bridge comes a mind-bending architecture proposal that looks like it was inspired by the movie Inception. As a submission to Solar Park South, the first “Zero Emission” international competition, Ja Studio came up with Slow Up-rising, a city built beneath a bridge.
Participants were requested to provide economically, energetically and culturally sustainable projects and innovative ideas for the reuse of an imposing 10-km highway stretch, between the municipalities of Scilla and Bagnara in Italy, soon to be decommissioned. Ja Studio's proposal is a gentle ramping platform that connects the top of the highway to the bottom of a valley. In time, they imagined the platform would serve as a center of a city. Implausible? Maybe. But also absolutely incredible!
