Awesome 365 Project of Pop Culture Icons

Self-proclaimed “part-time dreamer, part-time designer” Jag Nagra has taken on her own personal 365 project, aptly titled 365. We've come across countless artistic pursuits that seek to spark creativity on a daily basis, yet Nagra's graphic design series manages to feel fresh and inviting. She began this project on January 29, 2012 and each day has brought a new finely executed pop culture icon. Recently, the graphic designer seemed to have been on a comic book superhero high, perhaps in reaction to the buzz of the hit movie The Avengers, but the artist draws plenty more popular characters outside of that niche.

Nagra's minimalist geometric renditions of characters and pop idols from Captain America and Wolverine to Elton John and vintage David Bowie are spot on. I have personally seen both Martin Scorsese and Danny Devito in real life and, let me tell you, there is little difference between their actual appearance and these digital illustrations. Nagra captures each person's unique characteristics and accentuates them just enough, before turning them into caricatures. A personal favorite of mine in this series, thus far, that I'm pleased made the cut and couldn't pass up the chance to share is Tobias Fnke after he just “blue” himself. (Any Arrested Development fans out there?)
