Radical Upcycled iMac Aquariums

Give new life to your old computer with this upcycled iMac Aquarium by Jake Harms. The story behind these repurposed machines is that one day at work, Harms was asked to throw out an old G3 iMac but couldn't bear to do it. So, he took it home with hope of finding a new purpose for the colorful, but broken, computer. And did he ever! After seeing a photo of an iMac Aquarium, Harms exactly knew what he wanted to do.

Harms gutted his old G3, which he describes as, “sadly out dated and on their way to be destroyed at electronic disposal facilities,” and installed lighting, a filter, and a custom-designed curved tank to fit the space of the old monitor.

After many popular requests, Harms also created the iMacquarium Kits. These starter kits provide the hardware and instructions to build the aquarium while allowing each customer to utilize their own handy skills to produce a custom home for their fish. The design took a lot of planning and customization and Harms says he is now, “proud to sell [these] to Mac and fish enthusiasts worldwide.”
