In this series entitled Sightseeing Tunnel, German photographer Jakob Wagner takes us on a colorful journey through the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel in Shanghai, China. In the popular tourist attraction, which involves a 5-minute tunnel ride in an automated car, visitors encounter surreal and otherworldly visual and audio effects. When describing the experience, Sales Director Zhang Bin says, "The story is about going from space into the core of the Earth and out again."

During the ride, Wagner used his signature long exposures to convey the high-speed motion of zipping along below the river. He documented the dramatic changes in light that filled the underground passageway and successfully transformed the space into an alternate universe. Although the tunnel is simply a creative means of transportation, Wagner's photographs quickly whisk viewers off into a vibrant and magical place that evokes a mysterious sense of uncertainty about what is lingering at the other end.

  • I'm sorry. That's lazy, shitty photography relying on group adoration. Seriously disappointing from MMM.
