My Modern Metropolis

Designed by Japanese architecture firm Takeshi Hosaksa, this house in Yamanashi, Japan was designed for a family that wished for a gradual change from the outside to the inside. Named the Outside In House, the clients wanted the sounds of nature to slowly disappear as you walk further away from the entrance.

An interesting aspect of the design includes a transparent wall on the south facade that can be slid open to the elements. On the interior, the panels and floors are made of wood, which brings nature inside as well. The property features a small garden plot behind the house and acrylic windows on the top of the roof, allowing for light to shine inside. There is also a dinning area set up outside the home so that the family may dine while enjoying the beauty of the surrounding environment.
