Rescued Parrot Who Plucked Out All Her Feathers Keeps Warm in Tiny Sweaters

Javi the parrot may currently be living a full life at Kansas's Tallgrass Parrot Sanctuary, but she's still recovering from the distressing obstacles she faced in her last home. When Javi was rescued this past fall, she smelt of garbage and cigarette smoke. She was incredibly nervous around others and, due to neglect, she'd anxiously plucked out every single one of her feathers. At the time, it seemed as though she'd never bounce back, but before long, her caretakers' TLC worked wonders and the lovable bird began to trust people once more.

Since no one knows if Javi's feathers will grow back in the future, she must wear sweaters to keep warm and to protect her delicate skin. While she may not have a colorful plume, Javi's sweaters have made quite the fashion statement–especially her recent, holiday-themed garments. Photographer Sara Forrest even took the time to capture these adorable threads in a photoshoot that's been delighting Javi's many followers as they become hopeful for the bird's bright future.
