Artist Completes His Whimsical Illustrations with Blooming Flowers

The flowers in artist Jesuso Ortiz‘s garden are destined for a creative life. Daisies, roses, and lily petals bloom off Ortiz's illustrations, completing his sketches in clever, visually seamless ways. In the Spain-based creative's world, a flower can be an umbrella in a colorful rainstorm, an ice cream scoop cradled in a cone, and even a flamenco dancer's flaring skirt.

Ortiz's use of flowers gives his sketches a 3D effect. While drawn on a simple solid colored background, Ortiz's works range from having a taste of cartoonish whimsy to the kinds of glamorous, beautiful women penciled by fashion designers. Each piece leave its own textural thumbprint on the viewer, producing feelings of nostalgia, warmth, and joy. Similar to his previous collection, Ortiz shows us that items don't always have to be used in the traditional way we're accustomed to, and that a little playfulness may lead to inspiration.
