Intimate Animal Portraits by Joshua Arlington

Erie, Pennsylvania-based photographer Joshua Arlington, a regular visitor to his local zoo, takes intimate animal portraits. Arlington manages to capture some stunning portraits of various animals, from a dignified tiger and calm orangutan to a smug llama and playful otter. As a result, the photographer creates his own virtual zoo through his images, photographing the admirable and unique beauty of each creature.

Beyond simply sharing the image of each animal, Arlington simultaneously spreads awareness about their standing in the animal kingdom. He shares some eye-opening, though heartbreaking, info about one of his favorite subjects, the Amur leopard, exclaiming: “Critically endangered, there are more of these large felines in captivity than there are in the wild (at last known count, only 19-26 are left).”

Arlington regularly updates with images and info through his Facebook page. He has also personally published a book featuring a selection of his animal portraits called ANTHRO that can be purchased through blurb.
