Strikingly Raw Silhouettes of Men and Women in the Wild

Self-taught photographer Julie Cherki has a raw talent and keen eye that radiates out of each of her striking portraits. As most artists do, Cherki uses the camera as a means of communication, a tool that connects her “interior space, with the world around [her].” Her photographs often depict men and women in the wild, incorporating natural elements into her work in a way that creates fresh and interesting pieces.

The French photographer seeks out lovely places to compose her images, aiming to use the atmosphere of each setting to feed the fantasy world where her subjects seem to reside. Striving for unique body movements and angles, Cherki's silhouettes capture a certain level of intimacy within each image. The combination of dynamic and emotional subject matter, paired with stunning natural backdrops result in a series of photographs that express an organic, dream-like aesthetic.
