Sculptor Hilariously Re-Imagines R2D2 With Body Parts from Other Superheroes

The lovable, loyal droid R2D2 is arguably one of the most popular Star Wars characters. But the robot who pleasantly beeps coded messages and even displays a sense of humor always seems held back on screen because of its limited mobility. Sculptor Katuhisa Yamaguchi does away with that barrier by taking apart an R2D2 action figure, mixing it with pieces from other superheroes and reassembling it in humorous configurations.

The imaginative combinations result in action-packed scenes that Yamaguchi sets up and photographs. The supercharged droid is seen punching Stormtroopers, leaping through the air and flexing its muscles in menacing poses. By giving R2D2 more strength and mobility, fans of the Rebellion are left to imagine how the Star Wars saga would have played out differently if the droid had been able to get in on more action.
