Beautiful and Bold Nature Mash-Ups

For this year's London Design Festival, held September 14 to September 23, UK-art shop Outline Editions will present a new series of work, called Anachroquarianism, by fast-ricing , Icelandic-born illustrator Kristjana S. Williams. Old Victorian engravings are mashed-up with contemporary illustrations to create fantastical new pieces that are bright, bold and daring.

Williams' works will be exhibited alongside older engravings by the giants of 19th century natural history illustration she was inspired by, which includes ornithological legends John Gould, Joseph Wolf, Jacques Barraband and Edward Lear.

Over the past few years, Victorian-inspired art has been experiencing a huge new resurgence as people seek something with roots – art tied to the past, that feels authentic and real. Williams' work has this unique quality, yet it also makes us feel as though we're experiencing something entirely new.

Anachroquarianism, the exhibition, will run from September 14 to September 22 at London's Shapero Rare Books. Williams' stunning new prints will be available to buy during the exhibition and online, here. This is one talented artist to keep watching.
